What is metal roofing?

Simply put, a metal roof is a roofing system made using metal pieces, tiles, or panels. Also, the design provides wind, water, and heat resistance, and even soundproofing. The roof also contributes to structural support and is a significant contributor to the overall aesthetic appearance of your home.

Are there different types of metal roofing?

There are various types of metal roofing. The most common styles include: Standing Seam Metal Roofing, Exposed Fastener Metal Roofing, Metal Shingle, Metal Tile Roofing, and Metal Roof Retrofit and Recover. Over the years, the standing seam style has become a popular choice. But, this does not mean it is only for commercial buildings but also residential housing. We specialize in Standing Seam Metal Roofing, which is panels with legs that are engaged and installed with clips to the roofing substructure.

How long does metal roofing last?

Metal roofing typically lasts 40-70 years. This durability depends on the material and style of the roof. In comparison to shingle roofing, metal roofing can last longer. Metal roofing can withstand wind gusts of up to 140 miles per hour. Because of their metal material, they will not corrode or crack, making them impact-resistant for anything life may throw at you.

How do I know it's time to replace my metal roof?

There are four main signs that your metal roof is coming to its end cycle. Two are easy to detect, as they will appear on the painted finish. If the painted finish starts to fade or if the painted finish is damaged, then it might be time to start looking for a roofer. Also, when you start seeing storm damage on the metal panels, including dents and scratches, it might be best to have someone take a look before you have a bigger problem on your hands. Lastly, if this is a screw-down metal roof, over time, the fasteners may start to wallow out due to a lack of expansion and contraction. But, when in doubt, always refer to a specialist. This way, you can have peace of mind and prevent any problems that may come in the future.
